Confirmation

The mission of our confirmation program is to provide a caring and nurturing environment to help middle school youth grow in their Christian faith and better understand what it means to be a Lutheran Christian. While we recognize that our entire life is one of growth in discipleship, we formally provide instruction for youth beginning in 7th grade so they can publicly affirm their faith the last Sunday of October in 10th grade. As a church we want to support and encourage parents in their calling to be the primary teachers of the Christian faith.

The Curriculum for 7th & 8th graders for the 2006-2007 year is:
  • Ten Commandments
  • New Testament
  • Holy Baptism
  • The Lord's Prayer

Seventh grade meets Wednesdays 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm. The first 55 minutes they meet in large group with a pastor. The remainder of the time is spent in small group with an adult guide where students share highs and lows and discuss the lesson.

Eighth grade meets Wednesdays 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. The first 55 minutes they meet in large group with a pastor. The remainder of the time is spent in small group with an adult guide where students share highs and lows and discuss the lesson.

Ninth grade meets Wednesdays 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm.  The 9th grade program includes topics such as spiritual gifts, music, eating disorders, drugs & alcohol, sexuality, coping with divorce, loss, & grief, praying, and mission time.

The last day of confirmation for 2006-2007 is May 2nd for 8th grade and April 11th for 9th grade.
